Win for Colchester
Anti-social behaviour in the City Centre is down according to the latest Essex Police figures
Colchester Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson, Martin Goss has welcomed the news that the City Centre is a safer and nicer place following figures provided by Essex Police during the period of 2022 to 2023. These showed that shop theft had decreased slightly with damage offences down by 24% and public order offences down 30% to those during 2021 to 2022.
Welcoming this news Martin Goss said:
“This is great news for Colchester and for us. I always welcome positive news for our city.
“The Police, The Safer Colchester Partnership, Colchester City Council and many others have helped to achieve such a positive result especially when you take into consideration that the previous higher figures included the period of Covid restrictions.
“I am grateful for all the hard work undertaken throughout the year by organisations and charities, particularly by The Safer Colchester Partnership and the Police to make our city centre better and safer for us all.”
More Work To Do Martin has arranged a meeting with his colleague and portfolio holder for Communities, Councillor Natalie Sommers to discuss more ways of joint working to support individuals committing acts of anti-social behaviour as well as those who are directly impacted by such acts.
